Even-par Chopra climbs to 16th at Players Championship

Ponte Vedra (US), May 11 (IANS) Daniel Chopra carded a second straight 72 but that was enough to see him rise from tied 35th to tied 16th at the halfway mark of the USPGA Players Championship.

The Indo-Swedish golfer, who won the season-opening event at the Mercedes Championships, is now even par 144 and six behind the leader American Kenny Perry (68, 70).

Chopra slotted birdies on the second, 10th and 16th, but also dropped strokes with a bogey on the 13th and a double bogey on the 15th.

The 47-year-old Perry leads the field into the weekend at six-under and he has been steady from the word go. He has just two bogeys through the first 36 holes -- one in each round.
