An interview with Jaaved Jaaferi |
After
tickling the funny bone in DHAMAAL and Tara Rum Pum,
Jaaved is all ready to roll the ball this time with
Shaurya as army lawyer. Rather unusual Jaaved will be
seen in a serious role this time.
What is Shaurya according to you?
According to me raising your voice against something
that is against your principle is Shaurya .But this
world is such that every one, someday or the other
have to compromise on their principle. I think it
happens almost everyday take for instance pirated CD's
we know that purchasing pirated CD is a crime, but in
spite of knowing most of the people end up purchasing
as its is easily accessible at a cheaper price. To
stand up against the wrong requires a lot of courage
and will power. I try and voice my opinion when ever I
fell that things are going against my principles.
Tell us something about your role?
I play a character of Major. Akash Kapoor. He is a
sharp and focused army lawyer and best friend of Sid (Rahul
Bose).Akash is very ambitious and to be on the top he
will play by the rules using them to his advantage.
Akash's friendship with Sid is so close that even if
he is about to loose the case he is proud for Sid.
Since you will be playing the army character for
the first time, any preparation that you did?
Being an Actor, I feel I am like clay, where any one
can twist and mould me and I will take that shape i.e.
I will be that character. We meet the representatives
of the army and saw their behavior and the mannerism
to get a proper idea to play the role. I had also cut
my hair shot to gel in the character.
What do you think about the music?
I think the music in the movie is woven according to
the mood of the film. It is not just cut and pasted
anywhere. It is very well planned for instance there
is a sequence in the movie where I and Sid (Rahul
Bose) a have some problem in our friendship , that's
where the song Dosti finds its place .All the songs
are background ones except for one which is lip sync.
I think the lyrics are wonderful and have lot of
meaning in it.
Would you like to do a movie with Samar Khan again
if given a chance?
Yes ,I would love to be a part of his team. I think it
is a credible attempt by Samar as the movie is from a
different genre altogether. He has tackled the subject
very well and gone into intricacies to portray the
character well.
What is unique about the movie Shaurya?
The movie has touched on certain aspects that exist in
the society. There are certain questions raised
through the movie. It is not a lecture but it is
something which the audience would like to know.
You experiences of working with cast?
I had a good rapo with every one. Though Rahul is the
main lead he never had any attitude and while
shooting, we use to end up advising each other about
the way we say the dialogues and also about lot of
other small things. I share most of my scenes with
Rahul but I have also known Minissha as a very bright
and educated person she just doesn't look at the
clothes and the make up but also is a focused person.
K.K and I have just worked for a day but he is a
fantastic actor.
What are the projects that working on?
I have quite a lot of movies in hand some of them are
Anees Bazmee's Singh Is Kinng, Nagesh Kukunoor's 8*10,
Paying Guest by Mukta Arts, Popcorn Entertainment's
Loot, Raman Bharadwaj's Vada Pav and Ashwin Kumar's
Forest, directed by Rahul Mahajan etc. I will be
shooting till next March and I am all exited about my
projects.
Any Actor that you look up to?
I want to be an actor who does a lot of variety and
according to me Kamala Hassan is one whom I like for
the various kinds of roles he plays.
